My Story

Hi, 

Im Sophie, the human at Rest and Ramble Dog Care.

​I thought  I would share a little about me and my journey...

​

I have my own little dog Lilypad, a very lovely and at times very vocal Miniature Schnauzer, who is as much a part of this then I am.

Lily is my first dog as an adult and she made my little family of two become three. 

I grew up with Beardied collies from the age of 5, so dogs have always been a huge part of my life.

We got Lily in 2018 the same year we moved to our village and she has been a constant and steady companion and soure of joy for both me and my son.

I trained as a Holistic therapist and Usui Reiki practitioner many years ago and offer my therapies to those who wish to be held this way ( www.myholisticjourney.co.uk ).

I have a passion especially for Reiki and for end of life care, having trained as a Soul Midwife with Felicity Warner down in Bridport on the Jurrassic coast.

Having spent many years caring for for a few very special humans (and still do) I had also been avaliable for various close friends to have thier dogs when they needed me to and its turned into a great love and purpose in my life.

As an avid nature lover, I am often found wandering the beautiful countryside with my dogs and love equally the peace nature brings and taking care of the doggies and seeing thier joy as we walk and play and enjoy each other's company.

33 years ago I was diagnosed with sensoriual hearing loss which has, unfortunately got steadily worse over the years. 

I now have severe hearing loss in one ear and profound loss in the other.
This venture towards dog care is not only something I enjoy but a necessary transition for my future as I find the interactions of the hearing world harder to navigate.

I hope to bring my holistic experience to the dogs I care for, as I know they will benefit greatly from being treated with love, care and respect, and as the whole little beings they are.

I shall look forward to getting know you and your furry friends now and the future.
